Denominational Affairs Committee (DAC)

UUCF's Denominational Affairs Committee (DAC), which reports to the Board of Directors, provides connections between the congregation and:

  • UU congregations, conferences, camps, and programs in our Joseph Priestley District, serving 65 congregations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Northern Virginia, and the District of Columbia; and
  • The Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations (UUA) with headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts.

Committee Responsibilities

The DAC's activities include:

  • Recruiting UUCF delegates to the annual General Assembly of the UUA and to the annual Joseph Priestley District Conference;
  • Encouraging UUCF members to attend local and regional denominational meetings, workshops, summer camps, seminaries, and UU gatherings;
  • Serving as a clearing house of denomination-related information through ongoing congregational communications; and
  • Disseminating information and polling the congregation on the Study-Action Issues that are proposed by congregations for consideration in formulating Statements of Conscience at each UUA General Assembly (GA).

DAC meetings are open to all UUCF members and friends. For information about our committee and program, contact Kurt Jensen. Visit the links below for more information on denominational affairs. If you find interesting information on Unitarian Universalist congregations, programs, or history, please pass it along.

Results of theUUA  2010 Congregational Poll:

Item One: For a Draft Statement of Conscience (SOC) to appear on the 2010 General Assembly Final Agenda, our Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) bylaws require a minimum of 25% of certified congregations to participate in the ballot vote on whether the Draft SOC should be placed on the Final Agenda.

After voting closed, the tally was:

  • “Yes” vote: 38.2%
  • “No” vote: 0.8%
  • “Abstain” vote: 34.8%
  • Did not vote: 26.2%

Seventy-three percent of certified congregations participated in the Congregational Poll this year.

Congregational Study/Action Issues

Item Two: For any proposed Congregational Study/Action Issues (CSAIs) to appear on the General Assembly 2010 ballot, our UUA bylaws require a quorum of 25% of certified congregations to vote “Yes” for the five proposed CSAIs they think are the most important.

In ranked order by vote are the six proposed CSAIs after the close of the Congregational Poll. The top five will be going on the General Assembly 2010 agenda; one will be selected at GA to be the 2010-2014 Congregational Study/Action Issue.
