Drumming Workshop and Performance

Sunday, March 21, 2 p.m. in the Sanctuary

With Tom Teasley. A $5-10 suggested donation. No drumming experience necessary. Tom Teasley fuses a variety of performing styles and instruments from Africa, India and the Middle East with American jazz. He combines ancient instruments with the latest in music technology including digital looping. He is a three time Fulbright-Hayes awardee which has taken him on several trips to the Middle East to collaborate with master drummers and oud players. He was recently nominated for a Helen Hayes award for his sound design work for Constellation Theater Company. Tom will be offering a workshop/ mini performance featuring a variety of drumming techniques from around the world.

This 60-voice adult choir welcomes new members at any time. Repertoire is drawn from all vocal genres--sacred and secular. Our goal is to provide beauty, meaning, and feeling to this community’s worship experience. Because music made together is unifying as well as gratifying, we share closeness as a group.

This small vocal ensemble meets several times throughout the year, learning a wide variety of repertoire including works by Eric Whitacre, Moses Hogan, Pallestrina, Ysaye Barnwell, and more. Contact Mark Vogel for more information about being a part of this group.
