Vespers

First Friday of the month (except October, January, and April when it is on the second Friday of the month)

October-May, 7:30 p.m.

Vespers, as traditionally understood, is the evening prayer service in the Roman Catholic, Eastern (Byzantine) Catholic, and Eastern Orthodox liturgies of the canonical hours. The word comes from the Latin "vesper," meaning "evening." The term is also used in some Protestant (especially Lutheran) denominations to describe evening services, and in some Anglican circles is used unofficially to refer to evening prayer.

At UUCF, the Vespers service is a contemplative end-of-week evening service, usually lay-led, often combining song, stories, poetry, and silence. These services are sometimes a venue for worship exploration and experimentation.
