Tue., Feb. 28, 5 p.m., Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway. Register here (required). Please join UUCF’s Climate Action Group and a coalition of county environmental and citizen groups at the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors meeting to spur the county toward clean energy. This action matters now, right here at home.
The UUCF Denominational Connections Committee brings to your attention two major new initiatives from the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). One calls for endorsing a Declaration of Conscience on bringing our faith values to bear on emerging social justice issues. The other is about a growing Sanctuary Movement where specific congregations are directly aiding immigrants and others facing imminent deportation.
Science, Reason & Religion will not meet Sun., Feb. 26, because of the congregational meeting at 12:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
UUCF’s Climate Action Group recently received a $5,000 grant from the Fairfax County government for its Paris Pledge initiative. The grant was specifically awarded to support the Paris Pledge LED lighting project, which is currently being implemented and should be completed within the next month. The project has converted almost all lighting at UUCF to LED technology. We anticipate a major reduction in our electric bills and associated carbon dioxide emissions as a result of this conversion.
