Six weeks have passed since the Afghan refugee family UUCF is co-sponsoring moved into their townhome in Sterling. After furnishing the home, volunteers from UUCF, Reston UU and Sterling UU helped enroll the family’s child in school, set up electronics, and are providing transportation and English instruction. Visits to the home are temporarily on hold because of the COVID-19 omicron variant. The family is grateful for the congregations’ support.
The family is dependent on others for transportation, so they will soon need a vehicle to get to employment, shopping and classes. If you have a used vehicle to donate, please contact Ann King or Kaye Cook of UUCF’s Afghan Refugee Resettlement Team.
