The 2023 UUCF Annual Meeting was held on Sun., Jun. 4. Below are meeting highlights:
- 2023-24 Operating Budget – The budget was approved (Here is the budget narrative that goes with the budget.)
- Leadership elections – All candidates for the Board of Directors and Leadership and Nominating Committee were voted into office.
- UUCF Resolution on Teaching Truth – The resolution was approved.
- Outgoing UUCF Board President Susan Bennett (left in photo above) announced the Board’s election of Kaye Cook (right in photo) as the new president. Kaye and Rev. David A. Miller thanked Susan Bennett for her calm, wise and steady leadership over the past 2 years.
Congregational Awards
The following members were honored with awards:
- The Founders Award, recognizing long-term, outstanding service and dedication to the UUCF community, was presented to Dave Anderson & Nancy Rooney. As members for more than 40 years, Dave and Nancy have given of their time, talents and expertise both as individuals and as a couple. Dave, for his gift of music and music leadership and his dedication to making the campus more energy and technologically efficient. Nancy for her many years in congregational leadership and pitching in to lead or work on teams when asked to serve. And, for both of them serving on UUCF’s board and most especially for helping co-lead the most successful capital campaign in UUCF’s history.
- The Bruce H. Birnbaum Award, recognizing volunteer service to UUCF above and beyond the call of duty, was presented to Gina Wells for her many years of service to the Music & Arts Team, especially her kind and inclusive leadership of the Revolution Ringers Handbells. And for her 4 years as a lay member of the Coordinating Team, where she contributed her expertise and skills in so many ways.
- The Rev. Bill Welch Religious Exploration Award, recognizing sustained service and dedication in RE, was presented to Laurie Cunningham for leadership of the Family Ministry team that re-envisioned how RE is done at UUCF. Laura also teaches at least one class every year and always shows, kindness, gentleness and love for the children of UUCF.
- The Howard & Agnes Sollenberger Social Justice Award, recognizing distinguished service to promoting social justice in the world, was presented to Kaye Cook. Kaye co-chaired the Racial Justice Steering Committee, served on the Social Justice Advisory Team, the Afghan Refugee Resettlement Team and the 8th Principle Project Task Force. She has also served twice on the Board of Directors. Kaye expresses her dedication to social justice as a spiritual practice.
