For those of you who weren’t at services yesterday, I wanted to give you an update on a few key things going on at UUCF.
We are still tallying the pledges for the Roofapalooza campaign from this weekend, but it looks like we are past $151,000! This will allow us to address the first four things on our campaign priority list. In the next week, the Coordinating Team (CT), with affirmation from the Board of Directors, will review contractor bids and choose the contractor(s) to do the work. Hopefully work will be done as soon as possible. It is not clear if there will be any disruption in the congregation’s use of the Sanctuary, but we will keep you informed as soon as we know more. Pledges are still needed and being accepted for the other projects on the list, so if you have not made a pledge, please do so by the end of October. Thank you so much for your generosity!
Our new assistant minister, Rev. Lara Fuchs, is coming to visit Nov. 1-11. She will be attending various meetings just to get to know folks. Because of the nature of the immigration process, she is not allowed to work, so it will just be a visit. More on that as we put together a schedule.
Because of the length of time the immigration process is taking, the board and the CT thought it was wise to enlist some assistance to support the ministry of the congregation in the interim. Rev. Alice King, the half-time minister of the UU Church of Loudoun, will be with us for 10 hours a week starting this week and until Rev. Lara joins us. Rev. Alice is a graduate of Meadville Lombard Theological School and a recipient of the Unitarian Universalist Association’s Donna DiSciullo Award for Young Adult and Campus Ministry. She will be working with the Pastoral Care, Young Adult and Small Group ministries. Rev. Alice is also my wife of 8 years and my partner of almost 18.
Now that the congregational year has begun, and as we will soon head into the holiday season, the energy and activity at UUCF are in full swing. Please check the calendar and our various methods of communication to keep updated on the many opportunities to participate in the vibrant life of this community and to stay informed of any further updates. We are off to a great start!
