Date/TimeSun., June 14, 2020 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Where: Zoom Meeting — RSVP and link will be sent to you*. (If you’ve already registered for the original date, you do not need to register again.)
Topic: Environmental Justice and Food
Join UUCF’s Climate Action Group (CAG) and Committee for Immigration Justice, and Faith Alliance for Climate Solutions for this plant-based virtual luncheon. Juanita Cabrera Lopez and others from the Mayan League will share experiences of how the multi-national industrial food production system exploits natural resources and despoils indigenous lands. This causes disasters for the peoples and communities engendering environmental and economic immigration. Ms. Lopez will talk about how immigrants and especially undocumented communities are then often exploited in U.S. industrial food production, and are especially hard hit during the COVID-19 crisis.
Pre-COVID-19, the CAG offered a delicious, plant-based luncheon, but since we’re not able to gather in person, we suggest checking out this link, which has scrumptious-sounding Mayan vegan recipes. We encourage all to join us while savoring homemade plant-based feasts!
