On Sat., Nov. 21, UUCF’s Music & Arts Program presented “Showing Up! Artists Banding Together for Artists,” a 3-hour livestreamed extravaganza. This first-of-its-kind online “telethon” combined a non-stop all-star lineup of live hosts, pre-recorded video performances and surprise guests – all to raise money for performing and visual artists in need. All proceeds benefit Vox Corona, which supports DC-area artists whose primary sources of income have disappeared as arts organizations shutter operations during the pandemic.
The lineup included national recording artists Peter Mayer, Emma’s Revolution, Glen Thomas Rideout, Woven Green, and Honey Extractor, alongside DC-area favorites Wendel Werner, Lea Morris, and Osa the Healer, renowned classical pianists Allen Shawn and Catalin Dima, and international violin stars Andrew Finn Magill and Guilherme Girardi Soares.
On behalf of Vox Corona, UUCF will be accepting donations through Dec. 21. Please give generously at the links below.
The first hour of the telethon will be re-broadcast on Suns., Dec. 6 & 13, at 4 p.m. and the second hour will be re-broadcast on Weds., Dec. 9 & 16, at 7 p.m. View the re-broadcasts at uucf.org/showing-up or the Showing Up! Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/uucfshowingup/.
