UUCF’s partner congregations are in much the same situation we are. Rev. Barni in Szentgerice, Transylvania, Romania, is still offering services on Facebook. The are no COVID-19 cases in the village. Schools remain closed. The special celebration scheduled for September has been postponed. The good news is that the Hungarian government has awarded a renewable grant that will pay for completion of the repair and restoration of the 800-year-old church.
Headmaster Ditol at the Puriang Unitarian School in the Khasi Hills of India reports that schools in India are still closed. In preparation for reopening, the school has installed 10 taps to facilitate hand washing and will have younger grades attend Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and older grades on the other days. Meanwhile he is sending assignments to 10th and 12th graders via WhatsApp in preparation for standardized tests. The church limits attendance to no more than 15 people per service.
Our partners in Szentgerice and Puriang frequently ask how everyone at UUCF is doing.
