The UUCF Leadership & Nominating Committee (LNC) is a group of 11 congregant volunteers who work together to address leadership needs at UUCF. The group’s mission is to develop annual slates of nominees for the Board of Directors and the LNC, provide resources to support the growth of current and emerging leaders, promote participation in the annual Unitarian Universalist Association General Assembly (GA), and celebrate leadership at UUCF.
Nominations for the Board and for the LNC
Creating a slate of leaders to serve the congregation effectively is a major responsibility of the LNC. Every year in the fall, the LNC invites nominations for UUCF elected leadership positions (the Board and the LNC). Congregants may nominate themselves or other congregants. The LNC deliberates on the nominations, seeking additional views from leaders across the congregation. Once assured of a nominee’s suitability to serve, the LNC announces the slate of nominees 6 weeks before the Annual Meeting, which takes place the first Sunday in June. The nominees are elected at the Annual Meeting, and begin their service the following congregational year, which starts July 1.
If you’d like more detail about serving on the LNC or on the Board, please contact lnc@uucf.org.
Leadership Development at UUCF
Leadership development is the LNC’s other major responsibility – creating and maintaining an enduring culture of growth through service. Every year, members of the LNC put together a program to help leaders become more spiritually grounded in their roles and expand their perspectives and abilities.
Guided by UUCF’s vision, the Leadership Development program offers workshops, training, speakers, and specific tools or techniques to UUCF’s current and emerging leaders to help them grow and enjoy their volunteer work. All leaders and interested persons are encouraged to read the Leaders’ Guide, a user-friendly resource that provides an orientation on a range of issues, from leaders’ major responsibilities to managing meeting logistics. Here’s a full list of UUCF lay leaders for 2024-25.
UUA General Assembly
Every year, thousands of UUs attend General Assembly (GA), the annual meeting of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), to worship, witness, learn, connect, and make policy for the association through the democratic process. GA is 100% virtual in 2024, taking place June 20-23.
UUCF also appoints delegates to GA. If you are interested in representing UUCF as a delegate at GA, please review these guidelines and complete this application (specific due date is announced every year about 3 months ahead of GA).
