Food Justice & Monthly Food Drives

Because of COVID-19, many area households do not have enough money for food and other essentials, and local food pantries are stretched thin because of increased demand. In May 2020, UUCF began holding monthly food drives to address this need in the community. The drives are held the second Sunday of the month until further notice. Drives are organized by UUCF’s Food Justice Team and each drive benefits one or more local organizations providing mutual aid in the community, including Food Justice DMV, Bailey’s Mutual Aid, and the Centreville United Methodist Church Food Program.

Congregants are encouraged to participate by donating non-perishable foods and grocery gift cards. Drive to the traffic circle in front of the Sanctuary and put donations on a cart – no contact. All volunteers will practice physical distancing and follow CDC guidelines including wearing masks and gloves. Thank you for supporting local families in hard times.
