UUCF participates in FACETS’ annual hypothermia prevention program, providing shelter for about 40 unhoused adults in Fairfax County for one week in February. Volunteers from UUCF, Vale United Methodist Church, Oakton Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Unity Fairfax and St. Mark Catholic Church in Vienna provide dinners and ensure a safe, warm and welcoming shelter for the week. Each year, UUCF congregants are needed for many volunteer tasks, including making and serving dinner on two nights, shelter captain, overnighter, evening assistants, etc.
