Capital Campaign Update
September 30, 2025. Dear UUCF Community, Seventy years ago, a small group of people of faith came together near here to found the Fairfax Unitarian Church, now the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax. At its founding, our congregation was nothing but our founders’ time, treasure, and commitment to one another. Without property, a minister, or staff, they had a vision that a liberal religious faith would be a beacon of truth and meaning for one another and for the society around them. We share that vision, which we make manifest each time we gather and care for one another and the broken world that surrounds us. Almost 2 years ago, your Board of Directors started the Living the Mission process, where we reached out to you to better understand what our vision of Grow, Connect, and Serve means in this different time, and for the people who sit beside us, shaded by the trees planted so many years ago. Focus Groups Need Your Feedback
September 3, 2025. Dear UUCF Community, You have likely seen messages about a series of focus group sessions, designed by UUCF’s Board of Directors. What are these all about? During focus groups in August, you asked about many topics – the history behind past attempts at a septic field upgrade, why we’re looking to grow our endowment, and how we will promote social justice efforts in our community and beyond, among other things. The Board has listened and adjusted our plans as we gather these great ideas, and will continue to
BoardWorks: Living the Mission
December 17, 2024. December at UUCF is bringing the joy back for me. Last week’s Joy Service, as usual, raised the rafters with heartfelt music, dancing, and even surprise games. But I’m realizing with that joy comes a need for reflection. I am craving the time for quiet meditation offered at this Friday’s Blue Christmas Silent Retreat. This has been a challenging and discouraging year for many of us. I know there’s work to do to Grow, Connect, and Serve. So that’s why on behalf of the Board, I’m writing to share that – as promised in September – we are bringing an essential discussion process to all congregants in January. Yes, this is our Living the Mission effort. Please keep reading! We need everyone’s attention on this activity and a commitment to participate in at least one – and hopefully two or more – Living the Mission discussions. We are a new congregation in many ways. We have many
