The UUCF community is invited to a special MLK weekend interfaith celebration at Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Bethesda, commemorating the life and prophetic legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Join faith and elected leaders from around the DMV region recommitting to living into Dr. King’s vision of the Beloved Community – an interconnected, interdependent “world house in which we have to live together black and white, Easterner and Westerner, Gentile and Jew, Catholic and Protestant, Muslim and Hindu – a family unduly separated in ideas, culture and interest, who, because we can never again live apart, must learn somehow to live with each other in peace.”
Celebration participants include U.S. Representative Jamie Raskin and interfaith leaders – Rev. Anne Derse, Rabbi David Shneyer, Imam Refai Arefin, Rev. Bill Sinkford and Ani Miranda. Musical guests will include Fariduddin Johnson, Aaron Shneyer, Dr. Rajwant Singh & members of the Sikh Youth Group, the Cedar Lane Choir, Zaynab Ensemble, and classical Indian dance by Neha Srinivasan.
