What is QUUilt?
In these times of isolation, stress and uncertainty, meaningful connection can recenter and re-engergize us. QUUilt, UUCF’s new take on RE, aims to emphasize Connection over Content by engaging children, families and adults in religious community through fun and fellowship.
What is QUUilt?
QUUilt is a fresh approach to Religious Exploration for these extraordinary times.
QUUilt goes beyond a traditional framework of Religious Education for children by embracing lifelong learning at UUCF and supporting parents, children, youth, adult learners, teachers and volunteers in a connected community.
Sunday morning classes and high school and middle school group activities will continue (virtually), of course. But these “patches” of content are now joined with other new opportunities for connection.
New QUUilt Opportunities for Connection
- Family story time
- Parent conversation groups
- A middle school book club
- Online game nights for 4th-6th graders
- Staff-supported RE at Home.
Possible other new patches include Adult Program classes and small groups geared for parents and young adults and collaboration on activities with other UU congregations like Cedar Lane and River Road, and engaging in justice work at UUCF.
Information on opportunities for connection are shown below and will be shared in the weekly QUUilt Community UUpdate, along with links to register children for online RE classes and to sign up for activities. May Message from the Director of Religious Exploration
Well, we made it to May and the end of the regular RE programming year!
The UUCF Auction is this Saturday night, May 7. Thanks to your kind donations, our RE class baskets are overflowing with goodies and look truly spectacular. Don’t miss your chance to bid on a class basket. You can bid online right now or come in person on Saturday to bid, socialize and enjoy the great food and music. More information is below. May 15 is the Coming of Age Service, where the 7th graders present their credos – the culmination of their year of study. The May 22 worship service will include the Bridging Ceremony. All high school students are encouraged to attend the service to support the 12th graders as they bridge to young adults. May 22 is also the last day of spring RE for elementary classes and 8th grade and is Teacher Appreciation Sunday. Elementary students in the 10:30 a.m. classes will begin in the Sanctuary for the first time this year and will end in class. If you taught RE this year, I hope you will be able to attend the service in person or online to be recognized.
The first session of Summer RE begins on Jun. 5, with programming for rising Kindergarten through young adults. RE classes will coincide with the summer worship service, which is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Adult helpers are needed to assist with classes. 8:50 a.m.: No RE classes
10:30 a.m.: Grade 8 Our Whole Lives (OWL) Only! - Sunday Morning, May 15, Spring RE
8:50 a.m.: Kindergarten-Grade 9 classes begin in the Program Building.
10:30 a.m.: Grades 4-6 begin in the Program Building. Grade 7 presents the Coming of Age worship service, Grade 8 and High School classes attend the service. (No Grade 8 OWL today). - Sunday Morning, May 22, Spring RE
8:50 a.m.: Kindergarten-Grade 9 classes begin in the Program Building,
10:30 a.m.: Grades 1-6 begin in worship for teacher appreciation, Grade 8 OWL begins in the Program Building. HS attend worship service.No RE classes on Mother’s Day, May 8, except for Grade 8 OWL at 10:30 a.m.
